Not everyone files their taxes on their own. For many people, their finances are complex and hiring tax professionals and tax service providers is the best way for them to file their taxes timely, securely, and efficiently. If you are one of those people who have used or hired a tax preparation and filing service to file your federal and state returns, you can also use those very same services to track your refunds.

For those who do not hire professionals to file their taxes for them, there are plenty of service providers out there who have platforms for you to not only file your taxes, but to track your refund after you submit your return. H&R Block and TurboTax are both popular tax filing services with consumers today.

Both services also provide effective and convenient refund tracker tools to help you locate your refund and estimate when it will be posted. Both these companies, along with many others, are experienced professionals with the systems and tools to track your refunds for you.

Many people might be thinking: Why spend your time on hold with the IRS when the TurboTax or TurboTax refund tracking tool does all the work on your behalf?

There are some complexities that come along with using the tracking services provided by companies other than the IRS’s free tool. For example, one requirement for using a proprietary company refund tracking tool is you must be an actual customer or client of the service. For example, you cannot use the H&R Block refund tracking tool if you did not file your taxes with H&R Block.

Your information will simply not be in the H&R Block system. But if you E-File your taxes with a professional service your refund status usually becomes available between twenty-four and forty-eight hours after your return was officially filed.

Each company asks you to create a user account. Using TurboTax as an example, simply log into your account using your TurboTax username and password. Doing so will bypass the need to enter identify verification information because it is already in your established account profile. You are still required to enter the exact amount of your expected refund, however.

The H&R Block refund tracker does require your last name, birthdate, SSN and filing status to give you accurate refund updates. Simply follow the instructions as requested by the refund tracking tool to receive up-to-date status information on your state and federal refunds today.
